Tokyo Coffee map

I make it a habit to visit as many coffee shops as I can when I travel. I've found that it's possible to catch a glimpse of what local, everyday life is like through patronizing the same coffee shops that locals frequent. Tokyo has, needless to say, perhaps one of the finest coffee scenes in the world. And when you factor in, how condensed the city really is, you really don't have to put in much effort to include coffeeshopping on your list of to-do's.

Having spent a significant amount of time in what I would consider one of my favorite cities in the world, I've documented all of my favorite coffee shops (and more). This map is the culmination of several trips to Tokyo, including a 3-month stint in the spring of 2016, but also a work in progress (Tokyo, I'm not done with you yet!). Make sure to expand the legend for a more in-depth view of not just coffee shops, but restaurants, museums, and retail shops as well.

The neighborhood guides

There are so many coffee shops sprinkled throughout the city that you can plan an itinerary completely around visiting them; you will end up hitting the majority of must-see landmarks and destinations. I've found that coffeeshopping, is a great way to explore Tokyo's many neighborhoods: some of them very well-known, and others more off the beaten path. Each neighborhood in Tokyo has its own unique ambience and character, and I've made it a personal project to (attempt to) capture the feel of each area through the following guides. Keep on reading for not just coffee tips, but also suggestions on where to eat, cultural activities, and what to really look out for in Tokyo. I'll be constantly updating these guides and adding new neighborhoods, so be sure to check back often and follow me on Instagram and Twitter.
